Sutivan is a small holiday village located 6 km west of Supetar on the northwest coast of Brač Island. The village has approximately 1,000 inhabitants.
Until my 2019 visit, I had never really had Sutivan on my radar as a holiday spot, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the development the village had undergone since my previous visit in 2007.
Sutivan is now pure “holiday feeling” — quiet, slow, and beautifully simple.
My video from Sutivan
This summer, I revisited Sutivan to record the video you can see below. I hope my footage gives you an appetite for a visit to this wonderful place.
Sutivan facts and more
Sutivan has about 2.5 km of coastline, which means the whole village is close to the sea, and the centre is located around the small port.
On one of my prior videos about Povlja, a viewer commented that there was a cat in the church tower, which actually was not correct, as the stone cat is located in the church tower of Sutivan.
Apparently, the story is that the cat went to the tower to surprise an octopus climbing on the church wall 🤔
The palm-lined promenade (Palm Avenue or Ul. stivanskih antifašista), leading to the port area, really puts you in holiday mode!
Hotel Lemongarden, the 5-star adults-only hotel, is one of the most beautiful you will find in Croatia.
The port area and the road along the seaside are restricted to cars with permission only. Parking for visitors is available near the Konzum supermarket.
At our visit, we had pizza at Bracera. The pizzas were horrible, and the service was also not great, so I would not recommend eating there.

What to do in Sutivan
Preferably nothing 😁
But if you have to do something, Sutivan is a great base for bicycle or hiking trips.
From Sutivan, there are 3 marked bicycle tracks; you can download a map of the routes on the website of the tourist board. If you visit at the end of May, you can participate in Uvita Vitar, a bike marathon offering routes between 20 and 70+ km.
A stroll along the seaside is something I can highly recommend. If you like longer walks, you could walk to Miča, 4.5 km east of Sutivan, or even to Supetar, which is 6.5 km east. In both cases, most of the walk is along the sea.
Another great hike is to the picturesque village Bobovišća na moru, which is about 6 km away.
With a car, you can visit Bol, Selca, Milna, and other villages on the island of Brač. You should also visit Vidova Gora, the highest peak, and the Blaca Monastery, which, in addition to the car drive, includes a 40-minute hike.
Additionally, you can visit the Stonemason School in Pučišća, where you can learn about the traditional craft and how it is passed down to the next generation.
A few km from Sutivan, you can find the Sutivan Nature Park, which is a mini ZOO, where you can see local animals as well as parrots, peacocks and other exotic birds
