The ferry route between Split and Supetar is the most traveled in Croatia; each year, 2.1 million passengers and 0.5 million vehicles travel on it.
As of October 2025, a passenger only fast ferry has been introduced. This line has a sailing time of only 20 minutes. For more information about this line, see below
In the video below, you can see our trip on the ferry on a sunny Saturday in April.
Car ferry Supetar to Split
The Supetar ferry usually departs from berth No. 21 or 23, which are located on the south side of the ferry terminal building.
If you travel by car, you have fixed signs and electronic boards guiding you from the beginning of the port area.
Once you pass the terminal, you will have the staff of the port guiding you to a waiting line.

On our trip, we arrived at the port 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time and ended up in waiting line number 9 or 10, so if your goal is to board first, you should come maybe an hour before the departure time.
Bear in mind that in the peak season, you have lots of daily ferry departures, so even reaching the port can take quite some time.

Boarding the ferry.
Boarding the ferry is easy, although there is not much space for the car, as you can see in the video.
The boarding order is the following
- Foot passengers
- Large trucks and buses
- Cars
This means that car passengers will be the last ones to enter the salon and the outside area. If you’re traveling with more people, I recommend buying separate tickets — one for the driver and the car and others for the passengers. That way, the passengers can board first and grab some good seats.
