Most people visit Dubrovnik for the UNESCO-protected walled Old Town and, in recent years, for its role as King’s Landing in Game of Thrones!
Fewer people come for a beach holiday, but Dubrovnik actually has quite a few beaches — more than 10 within the city limits. Personally, I never connected Dubrovnik with beaches. During my recent visit, I made it to most of the beaches in town and was quite surprised. Below you can find information about each of them, and I will reveal which one I found to be the best.
My video of the beaches in Dubrovnik
If you wish to have a visual look at the beaches, you can check out the video I made here.
If you are planning a beach holiday, you might also check out my post about the beaches in Split or the beaches in Zadar, which I have also visited.
List of Beaches in Dubrovnik
I visited beaches in all parts of Dubrovnik. Some are near the Old Town, while others are in the Lapad and Babin Kuk areas. Below, I have listed information about each of them.
Banje Beach
The Banje Beach (Plaža Banje) is the most popular beach near the Old Town. It is located 250 meters east of the Ploče Gate. The beach is home to a popular beach bar and lounge club, and it brands itself as a “Sandy Oasis” — which I think is a bit of an overstatement.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 650 m (towards the east)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ✅
- Price Deck Chairs – €25 / day
- Sunshades Included – ✅
- Type of beach – pebble and sand
- Suitable for kids – ★★★
- GPS coordinates: 42.641577, 18.116171 – All Beaches Map
The beach club covers a large part of the beach with deck chairs and sunshades, but there is also a section where you can simply lay down your towel.
From the beach, you have a great view of the eastern part of the city walls.

Public beach by St. John fortress
If you are walking around on Stradun and feel like it’s time for a swim, the closest option is located along the outside wall of St. John’s Fortress.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 300 m (towards the east)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ⛔
- Price Deck Chairs – ⛔
- Sunshades Included – ⛔
- Type of beach – concrete and rocks
- Suitable for kids – ★
- GPS coordinates: 42.639710, 18.112675 – All Beaches Map
The beach consists of a concrete plateau and a rocky area, both of which offer space to lay down your towel. The area also has several ladders that make it easy to get in and out of the water.

Dubrovnik city beach (Buža Beach)
Another beach located just outside the southern wall is Buža Beach (also known as City Beach). Access to this beach is through a hole in the Dubrovnik city walls. Once you pass through, stairs take you down to a plateau, which used to host the popular Buža Bar, where you could sit and enjoy the view. Nowadays, you can still buy drinks there, but the chairs and tables are gone.
Just below the plateau, people use the cliffs and rocks to jump into the water. There is a ladder to exit the sea.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 400 m (Up the stairs towards south)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ⛔
- Price Deck Chairs – ⛔
- Sunshades Included – ⛔
- Type of beach – pebble
- Suitable for kids – ★★
- GPS coordinates: 42.638868, 18.110433 – All Beaches Map

Bokar / Kolorina Beach
Just outside the western side of the city walls, right after you exit through the Pile Gate, you’ll find Bokar Beach (also known as Kolorina). This small beach is located in a picturesque bay where several scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed.
The bay has concrete and rocky areas for entering the water, but as you can see in the photo below, Bokar Beach has been largely taken over by kayaks.

Šulić Beach
Just after St. Lawrence Fortress (Fort Lovrjenac), you’ll find a small bay with Šulić Beach — a narrow pebble beach surrounded by a concrete plateau.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 500 m (towards the west)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ⛔
- Price Deck Chairs – ⛔
- Sunshades Included – ⛔
- Type of beach – pebble, concrete, and rocks
- Suitable for kids – ★★
- GPS coordinates: 42.641695, 18.103753 – All Beaches Map
As you can see in the photo below, the beach is quite popular. Since the pebble area is quite small, most people lay their towels on the concrete plateau.

Bellevue Beach
My absolute favorite beach in Dubrovnik, the Bellevue Beach, is located in a bay squeezed between Hotel Bellevue and the Rixos Premium Dubrovnik. To reach the beach, you have to climb down quite a few stairs on either side of the bay.
When you reach the beach and look over the water, you feel like you are at some remote beach, as you can mainly see cliffs in both directions.
At the beach, there is an area with deck chairs and a coffee bar which belongs to the Bellevue Beach, but for the most part of the beach, you can just pick a spot for your towel.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 1.6 km (towards the west)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ✅ – Not sure if you have to be a guest of the hotels to rent one.
- Price Deck Chairs – ?
- Sunshades Included – (✅) – probably
- Type of beach – pebble, concrete, and rocks
- Suitable for kids – ★★
- GPS coordinates: 42.646258, 18.092298 – All Beaches Map
One of the cool things about the beach is that it has a cave you can swim into on the northern side of the bay; you can see it in my photo below.

Lapad Beach
In the city part of Lapad, in front of the Grand Hotel Park, you can find the Lapad Beach, which is a large pebble beach. Normally, the beach is filled with deck chairs from the hotel, but as it is currently undergoing renovations, the beach is now without deck chairs to rent.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 4 km (towards the west)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ✅/⛔ – Once the Grand Hotel is renovated, they will be available.
- Price Deck Chairs – ?
- Sunshades Included – ✅/⛔ – Probably
- Type of beach – pebble
- Suitable for kids – ★★★
- GPS coordinates: 42.655279, 18.070299 – All Beaches Map
City buses operate frequently between the Old Town and the Lapad area.
Near the Lapad Beach, you have the pedestrian street Šetalište kralja Zvonimira, where you have plenty of bars and restaurants. Just next to the beach, there are several shops selling beach equipment and toys.

Vis Beach
The Vis Beach is another beach in the Lapad Bay. The beach is located in front of the Hotel Vis. Between this beach and Lapad Beach is a larger concrete plateau.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 4 km (towards the west)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ✅ – Not sure if you have to be a guest of the Hotel Vis to rent one
- Price Deck Chairs – ?
- Sunshades Included – ✅ – Probably

The hotel operates a Bistro/coffee bar by the beach.

President Beach
At the end of the Lapad Peninsula in the city part of Babin Kuk, you can find the President Beach, located in front of the Hotel President. As a non-hotel guest, you have to go around the hotel to the left to get to the beach.
You have a bus stop in front of the hotel, where buses from the Old Town arrive. Nearby the beach/hotel, you also have affordable public parking (I paid 1.30 euros per hour).
- Distance from the center of the old town – 5 km (towards the west)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ✅ – Not sure if you have to be a guest of the Hotel President to rent one
- Price Deck Chairs – ?
- Sunshades Included – ✅
- Type of beach – pebble
- Suitable for kids – ★★★★
- GPS coordinates: 42.662200, 18.057935 – All Beaches Map
At the beach, there is a bistro, and there is also a place where you can rent Subs, jet skis, and other watersports equipment.

Coral Beach / Coral Beach Club
The Coral Beach Club is probably the most exclusive and most expensive in Dubrovnik. The beach and the club are located at the end of the peninsula towards the north.
When you enter the club, you receive a bracelet, which is used for charging for food, sunbeds, drinks, etc. Upon leaving, you return the bracelet and pay.
You have a walking path between Hotel President and Argosy Valamar, which leads to the beach. You can also come from the direction of the Copacabana Beach.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 5 km (towards the northwest)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ✅ – Single, double, VIP version, and VIP Lounge Baldachin Bed
- Price Deck Chairs – from €65 / day for a single bed
- Sunshades Included – ✅ also towel and exclusive madrass are included
- Type of beach – pebble
- Suitable for kids – ★★★
- GPS coordinates: 42.663978, 18.062204 – All Beaches Map
There is very little room on the beach if you bring your own towel.
The beach club works from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and each day there is a DJ to make sure of a great atmosphere.

Copacabana Beach
300 meters east of Coral Beach, you can find the Copacabana Beach, which is also home to a beach club. As with the Coral club, you can book sunbeds online and reserve a table for dinner.
The beach consists of a concrete platform, a pebble beach, the beach club, and a beach bar. There is also plenty of space where you can lie down on a towel.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 5 km (towards the northwest)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ✅ – Single, double, VIP version, and VIP Baldachin Bed
- Price Deck Chairs – from €35 / day for a single bed
- Sunshades Included – ✅
- Type of beach – pebble and concrete
- Suitable for kids – ★★★★
- GPS coordinates: 42.663699, 18.064898 – All Beaches Map
There is parking near the beach, but it gets quite full during summer.

Mandrac Beach
The last beach on the Lapad peninsula is the Mandrac Beach, which faces north. The beach is a pebble beach.
- Distance from the center of the old town – 5 km (towards the northwest)
- Deck chairs / Sunbeds – ⛔
- Price Deck Chairs – ⛔
- Sunshades Included – ⛔
- Type of beach – pebble
- Suitable for kids – ★★★★
- GPS coordinates: 42.664275, 18.070659 – All Beaches Map
Next to the Mandrac beach, there is a small marina and a dog beach
There is a bit of parking near the beach.

My final thoughts
I was quite surprised to see how many different beaches there are in Dubrovnik; we visited more than 10, and even left some out, like the Sveti Jakov Beach southeast of Dubrovnik.
Most of the beaches were really nice, but Bellevue Beach was just on another level.
The prices in the beach clubs were on a level that I would not pay, but there were lots of people, so apparently people do not mind.
