Which is the best beach in Split?

Nobody can answer that question without being biased!

In general, the water quality at all beaches is good. Three beaches have the Blue Flag, and probably all beaches would receive it if they were tested as part of the Blue Flag program.

When my kids were small, we mainly went to Bačvice Beach because of its shallow water and nice sand. From time to time, we also visited Kaštelet Beach and Bene Beach, as they were both good for children.

Nowadays, I mainly go to Znjan Beach, as it is only five minutes from where I live. If I want to spend a whole day at the beach, I usually visit Punta Rata Beach in Brela.

FAQ – Split Beaches

Which beaches are the best in Split?

Split has a lot of beaches, which include rock, pebble, and sandy beaches. Some are crowded with lots of amenities, some are located in the woods of Marjan, so which one is best depends on your preferences.

Some yes. The most crowded beaches are Bačvice, Žnjan, Kašuni, and Kaštelet. The beaches at Marjan are usually the least crowded ones.

On Bačvice and Firule beaches, which are both sandy, you do not need water shoes. On most other beaches, yes, if you are not comfortable walking on pebbles.

For really small kids, Bačvice is the best. If you have middle-aged kids and teenagers, I would say Žnjan, as it has the most activities for kids.

Yes, Split has two dog beaches. In the south, you have Duilovo dog beach, and in Meje, in the northern part of town, you have the Zvončac dog beach.

The closest beach to the center of Split is Bačvice, which is 1 km away from the Riva.

Bačvice and Firule are sandy beaches with shallow water — both are great for smaller kids.
