Tag: Korcula Island

Korčula is one of Croatia’s most beautiful islands, known for its dense pine forests, crystal-clear waters, and the stunning medieval walled town of Korčula Town — said by some to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. Beyond the old town, the island is home to the charming village of Lumbarda and the laidback harbour town of Vela Luka, each with its own character worth exploring.

Korčula is also celebrated for its wine — most notably the crisp white Pošip, which originates from the island but is now grown across Croatia, and the rare Grk grape, an endemic variety produced exclusively in the vineyards around Lumbarda. More relaxed than Hvar and less crowded than Dubrovnik, Korčula offers the perfect mix of history, nature, and authentic Dalmatian life. Here you’ll find my guides to getting to Korčula, getting around, where to stay, and everything you need to know before visiting this remarkable island.
