Croatia has no shortage of things to see, but not everything is worth the trip. This collection covers the sights that are — the places I have visited myself and can honestly say deserve a spot on your itinerary, whether as a day trip, a detour on a longer drive, or the main reason for going somewhere in the first place.
You will find Croatia’s most celebrated sights here: Plitvice Lakes, the Dubrovnik Walls, Diocletian’s Palace in Split, and Krka National Park. But also the ones that tend to fly under the radar — the ancient Roman ruins at Salona just outside Split, the watermill village of Rastoke near Plitvice, the tiny sponge diving island of Krapanj, and the UNESCO listed St. Nicholas Fortress outside Šibenik.
